FAQ
Why choose a VAI-KO beanie?
Why choose a VAI-KO beanie?
VAI-KO beanies are designed with love in Finland. Depending on the model you choose, our beanies are made from organic merino wool or recycled wool.
100% Organic Merino Wool
For our merino wool beanies, we use mulesing-free organic merino wool. The yarn has both Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) and Bluesign certificates. These beanies are made in Finland.
Recycled Wool Blend (70% Recycled Wool, 25% Recycled Polyamide, 5% Other Fibers)
Our recycled wool is sourced from repurposed sweaters. Because the fibers are already colored from their previous life, the yarn requires no additional dyes, saving water and chemicals during production. Utilizing recycled fibers gives existing materials a new life and reduces textile waste without compromising the natural, breathable qualities of wool. The recycled yarn is spun in France and these beanies are knitted in a partner factory in Lithuania. The production facility utilizes renewable energy and a zero-waste knitting method to maximize resource efficiency.

How to wash wool?
How to wash wool?
Wool is naturally antibacterial, so in most cases simply airing out your garment is enough to refresh it. However, if your item gets stained or needs a deeper clean follow these gentle washing steps to keep it in great condition.
1. Spot Clean When Possible
If there’s a stain, try removing it with a damp cloth and mild wool detergent or Marseille soap instead of washing the entire item.
2. Hand Wash for Best Results
When washing is necessary use lukewarm water (around 30°C) and a gentle wool detergent or Marseille soap. Avoid stretching or rubbing the fabric during the wash.
3. Be Gentle with Drying
After washing gently, tap the excess water out with a towel. Lay the item flat to maintain its shape.
Wool Washing Tips:
- Avoid frequent washing – hanging out to air is usually enough.
- Always use a mild wool detergent to protect the fibers.
- Never twist or wring the fabric, as it can lose its shape.
- Store folded instead of hanging to prevent stretching.
With proper care wool clothing remains soft, fresh, and long-lasting!
