What is Merino Wool

Merino wool is nature's own super fibre that comes from a special sheep breed called merino. It has variety of great statistics no synthetic fibre can beat.
Merino wool has outstanding heat regulation properties. The individual fibers can absorb up to 30% of their own weight in moisture, moving moisture away from the skin leaving the beanie feel comfortable to wear regardless of the temperature. As merino wool is naturally odour and stain resistant your beanie will not start to smell like most synthetic fibers would. Even if you have to wash it you don't have to worry of it getting worn out look as its natural durability makes it stand up to repeated washings.

Ecological choice

Merino wool is 100% Organic, recyclable and biodegradable so it's a perfect choice for sustainable and eco-friendly lifestyle. Our beanies are manufactured under a strict bluesing® system and Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), which means no harsh chemicals such as chlorine bleach or formaldehyde are used during the manufacturing process. Instead of conventional anti-felting treatment process our merino wool is treated with natural salts that lead to same outcome as conventional process leaving the yarn smooth and machine washable.

Anti-mulesign

A lot of concern has been around animal welfare when it comes to merino wool products. We love animals and would never want to harm them in order to get nice products. For that reason we work only with farmers who do not support mulesign, a very painful surgical operation where skin is removed around breech of a sheep to prevent flystrike (myasis). Our merino wool comes from South African farms where the flystrike is not present.

Summary

Merino wool is the choice for those looking for functional garments that last through variable conditions. When processed right it also meets ecological and ethical standards that are key-aspects in sustainable lifestyle.

My husband has been using thermal merino wool shirt for sports from a brand called Green Rose and it is perfect for him. After a run he doesn’t feel sweaty. Really proud of merino wool.
